Lori Paranjape—whose work has appeared in People, Domino, Elle Décor, Traditional Home and many more—is one of the brightest stars in Nashville’s creative constellation. Her eponymous firm, Mrs. Paranjape Design + Interiors which began in 2008, specializes in luxury residential and new construction projects that take her around the country,
Recognized for her “New Classic” aesthetic— a crisp, modern, fresh twist on traditional design—Lori adapts this signature style in unexpected ways while fulfilling the unique needs of each client. Passionate about discovering local artists to source custom pieces for residences, and deeply considerate of every detail through to finish, Lori is adept at wading through the likes to get to the loves.
Inquisitive, self-taught and 110% driven, Lori’s leap into the design field was fortuitous. After graduating with a degree in English, Lori initially pursued a career in TV news, where she got her biggest scoop of all: meeting and marrying Mr. Paranjape at the station they both worked in Knoxville. She moved with her husband and two young children to Nashville, a bigger TV market, yet Lori felt a more creative calling.
An inspiration junkie and serial redecorator, she was asked time after time to help friends and acquaintances with their homes. As referrals exploded, Lori began working as the in-house designer for the beloved home retailer to generations of families, Redo Home+Design, now a leading retail boutique and collective of interior designers based in Nashville.
Affectionately known as @mrsparanjape by her 75K Instagram followers, Lori’s work is covered frequently by design blogs and editorial outlets, is a sought-after collaborator with leading lifestyle brands, and participates regularly at prestigious industry panels, design markets, leading showhouses and events.
Beyond sheer design talent, Lori finds the fun in each project she touches. By nature, Lori is a very positive force, and views her responsibility to accompany clients during the largest expenditure of their lives—and the places they ultimately call home—as her great honor. When not holding down the fort on design projects and family life, Lori and her husband are avid supporters of Best Buddies, an organization which promotes friendships and leadership for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
I’m a design lover and inspiration junkie.
Design is my way to connect. It’s my way to let my clients know that they’ve been heard and understood. It’s how I show I care about their comfort, and their needs.
When I think about how long my projects will last, I feel the heady responsibility to make sure I am careful, and thoughtful, and timeless.
The fuel for my fire is inspiration. I actively look for the *poof* when I think if something I haven’t thought of before… or a way to use an idea that was always good, but didn’t fit until now. I feel like there is a deep well of ideas that is waiting for the right client; the right project. The moment the idea becomes clear, or the usage reveals itself, is the moment I crave.
I have the great responsibility of accompanying clients during the largest expenditure of their lives. The numbers can be scary, the cost of building materials, land, lighting, appliances, furnishings, window treatments and every other detail. The good news is, I’ve been here before.
I can help sort through the likes to get to the loves. I can share my experience to know when to splurge and when to stay conservative.
I am honored to be a part of the building of personal spaces… the places my clients call home.
On the personal side, home is my husband, kids and two pups. We are a dinner at the table, piled up in bed, kiss before you leave, love you at your worst, giggle when it’s funny kind of family.
